ACADEMY AT NOLA DUNN

LIBRARY MISSION STATEMENT

 

The mission of the Academy at Nola Dunn Library is to serve the students, staff, and community of the Academy at Nola Dunn in the following ways:

 

·     To promote life-long learning to the students at the Academy at Nola Dunn by encouraging a love of reading and literature.

 

·     To encourage a love of reading and literature by providing a collection of materials in a variety of formats that will appeal to all level readers and learning styles.

 

·     To promote efforts to ensure that all students have access to information in various formats and a broad range of ideas in an atmosphere of free inquiry, ethical use, and confidentiality.

 

The Academy at Nola Dunn Library will implement this mission by:

 

·     Supporting effective instruction and providing current information technology.

 

·     Providing students with the skills to search for, evaluate, and use information efficiently and effectively.

 

·     Encouraging independent learning and critical thinking.

 

·     Integrating information literacy skills into the curricula.

 

·     Supporting the Academy at Nola Dunn’s mission and expectations.

 

·     Encouraging reading as a habit of mind.

 

·     Fostering cooperation with public and academic libraries and other community agencies.
